Getting your pitch ready for summer tournaments

Now is the time to start thinking about your football summer tournament

This summer sees a festival of football with the Euro 2024 in Germany. Having England and Scotland qualified, there is sure to be buzz across the UK.

Are you looking to host a summer tournament, and tap into the excitement? If so, you’re going to want to get your pitch in the best condition so your participants can go all out.

Pitch preparation is key

Here at Kestel, we have worked with a variety of clubs over the years to get their pitches match-ready for a fun-filled tournament weekend. As we’ve help clubs host many summer tournaments we know preparation is key.

Central to this preparation is continued and regular cutting of the pitches in the build-up to the tournament, including one final cut in the days immediately before.

During the cutting careful attention should be given to the pitch. By keeping a close eye on it you will be able to see if other treatments will be required, such as overseeding or aerating it. Both can easily be applied by specialist teams.

But don’t forget about

Maintenance of your pitch is only one part of the whole experience. You’ll need to get a plan in action to cover all the jobs that will need to be done to ensure you are ready for kick-off. For example, your 5-a-side pitches will require the old markings removed and new ones measured and added. Not to mention replacing the goals.

Let’s hope for a successful summer of football

You’ll want the teams taking part in your tournament to enjoy their football, so it’s important to give them the quality of pitch needed so they can weave their magic. The better the quality, the more enjoyment they will have, and the greater likelihood they will return next year.

Laurel Park FC have used Kestrel Contractors in recent seasons to do work mainly in preparation for our season-ending Funday and Tournament.

We have found Kestrel to be very reliable and knowledgeable in the work performed. The preparation of our pitches for the tournament has been excellent. We would recommend Kestrel to other sports clubs that need pitch maintenance and line marking for summer tournaments
